Welcome to PDChallenge 2012!

We would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to the PD Challenge 2012 - Roy and Lynn's Parkinson's Ride Across America! Roy was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2009 and he and I have since been dedicated to raising awareness to those afflicted with PD. Roy, age 55, had DBS (Deep Brain Stimulation) surgery in July of this year to help alleviate his symptoms of Parkinson's. Since his diagnosis, Roy has been extremely devoted to supporting this cause and has been proactive in a variety of fundraising events. Now, in honor of his surgery, Roy and his wife, Lynn, have decided to do something extraordinary in a continued effort for awareness of PD by embarking on a 4,500 mile journey across the United States via bicycle with their two dogs in an effort to raise funds and awareness to those suffering from Parkinson's disease.

Parkinson's Disease

Parkinson's disease is a progressive and degenerative neurological disorder in which those afflicted suffer from tremors, cramping, involuntary movements, bradykinesia, insomnia, difficulty swallowing, and walking, just to name a few. 1 in 100 people are diagnosed with Parkinson's disease with estimates of over a million people in the US alone and 65,000 new diagnoses each year. To date, there is no known cure.

Together we can make a difference!

We encourage you to participate and together we can make a difference to help eradicate this debilitating disease. Please know that your contributions can help find a cure for Parkinson's disease in our lifetime and bring support and awareness to those still suffering or recently diagnosed.

We are proud to be fundraising for the several 501c3 charity status Parkinson's charities and Foundations. It is with the dedicated education and research these companies provide that we will finally find a cure for this debilitating disease.

We appreciate your help as we embark on this journey of a lifetime. We thank you in advance for your anticipated support of our PD Challenge 2012
